I was going to the Rockies and needed a water proof hiking boot that was tough, I'm from the flatlands (central Texas) and down here a work boot and hiking boot can sometimes do both jobs. So all I had was a flat soft soul boot. These boot saved my feet. They are tough, water proof & the most impressive feature, they were extremely light weight. I've never owned a boot that tough and that light. So in my opinion a great boot for long hikes, they protected my feet and allowed me to hike for a long time. Added bounes. The "mock" toe looks pretty good with pants, so I even wear them casually sometimes.

if only they were a 5 inch boot like the good old days. I bought these boots online and they arrived promptly with no identifiable flaws in the manufacturing process. I'm 62. I was replacing my previous Outbacks that I bought in 1977 (see poic), when I was 20 because the soles were finally wearing out (I only wore them during the winter time). I'm biased towards Rocky boots.These boots are the current edition produced by Rocky but what I received was slightly different then what was pictured. Gone is the metal GORE-TEX label on the side of the boot which is replaced with a flappy (and less classy) cloth substitute. Also, the tongue of the boot is not leather, It is now a mesh fabric. Rocky should update its photo. These Nubuck leather boots are both stylish are comfortable. I have received many complements from family and friends. My only disappointment is that Rocky no longer makes Outbacks in a 5 inch boot. It almost impossible to find a quality 5 inch boot with just 5 shoe string holes. My 5 inch boots were less bulky. I can tell that the sole of my new Outbacks will not last as long as my 1977s, but I am still satisfied with the sole. The softer compound is grippier if you are going to use them for hiking around rocks etc. The Gore-Tex works great. I wore them indoors for 8 hours with heavy wool socks and not a drop of moisture was inside the boots when I took them off. My feet were also dry. The sizing I believe is true to size. I'm somewhere between a 10M and 10.5M and I bought the 10.5Ms which fit me well and allows for a thick wool sock if desired. The shoelaces stay laced and the boots stay tight, at least the way I lace them. All in all, this boot works well for me. They are promoted as waterproof but I will be applying a waterproof spray to keep the leather looking brand new and stain free. The manufacturer does NOT recommend mink oil or beeswax

This is my 2nd pair real comfortable. So far so good.

first the tough durable work and field resistance of this leather is top notch so far has resisted scrapes drags bumps water everything a boot should do unlike other workboots that scratch at the slightest touch. The leather on these is what all work boots should be made from hint . Next the sizing fits short and wide add a half for toe room and boot socks this is a hiker boot not shoe The soles are designed with outdoors in mind terrain gripping tread soft but will also work in general work places There is a steel toe version of these for work requirements Enjoy

I bought this style of boot 2 months ago and the boot is coming apart. The sole is loosing the glue between leather and rubber on sole. Which leaves this big gap. It appears to be stitched but it's not. Very cheap made boot. Not exactly what it appears to be in the picture. Very upset with this product. I feel I should be given another pair of boots because I have purchased 2 pairs which should have lasted 2 years now will only last 6 months at the most.

It been about two months and I love them. Very fast shipping.

I've been buying these Rocky boots since around the middle to late '90s. There have been some gradual changes over the years but that does NOT dissuade me from continuing to purchase these VERY comfortable boots. When I wore my first pair at Cannon Beach, OR, I could NOT believe how comfortable these boots were straight out of the box! They're LIGHTER than ANY boot I wore previously. It was like wearing "moccasins" that were Gortex with excellent "traction". I had to "UP" by size by 1/2 inch (9 vs. 8.5) with boots purchased in the last eight years but STILL no issue/problem for me. MY main issue with ANY shoe is "width" but, again, the "W" works well for me.

These boots were my doorway to the Rocky brand. I was tired of the other name brand footwear comfort and construction. They were failing in one way or another within 3 months. I loved this boot from the start and am going on 8 months with no failures.

Arrived on time. Only problem was one boot had a label that said 12M and one boot had a label that said 11.5M. I had ordered size 12M. After careful measures and wearing the boots, it appears that one was mislabeled. I have decided to keep the boots. This is my 4th pair of Rocky boots and this is the only issue I’ve ever had.

Recently recieved , still breaking them in ,seem well made and were comfortable on initial use, will take another two to three months to give a proper review

I purchased my first pair of Rocky Outbacks in 1996. They were the most comfortable civilian boots I had ever purchased. After several years, I purchased another brand of boot/shoe. They were not as comfortable as the Outback. Recently, I was curious if Rocky still made the Outback and to my surprise, they did. I purchased the new boots. There was a change in the sole, but I believe it will make them more rugged...We'll see.

These boots are cheaply made and poorly attached to the sole. They quickly fell apart with only mild use. Pretty sad, because they were extremely comfortable.

Don't stop making these boots. They will keep your feet warm and dry. And very comfortable.

I have owned a few pairs of these for work and play over the years, for work and play.This particular pair are for work can't beat them try them you will love them

This is the second pair of these boots I've bought. Last year I had to make mine a pair of work boots. Their still good boots all tho they don't look nice anymore. If these last like the first pair I'm going to be delighted. These are the most comfortable shoes you'll ever were.

I use this boot with thick wool socks for deer hunts in my home State. Wore them on a South African hunting and game viewing safari. Also use them when I know I'll be on my feet all day outdoors. I buy Rocky boots because they make them in size 7.5, many other companies start at size 8 and are too big for me.

Unbelievably, from my first few minutes of installing my Rocky Hikers on my feet, I knew that I would nave no need to "break in" those boots, because after a few steps, I thought I was wearing a pair of comfy ankle high slippers. A month later, nothing has changed. I don't understand how this assemblage of materials could offer so much comfort. My hat is off to you for producing such a quality product.

Nice boots, but the pair I got are almost too tight for my liking. I wear size 9 and should have gotten 9.5 and planned on wearing thick socks. You just never know. The pair I got were also a different color than advertised. They're listed as being Light Brown, but the pair I got are Chocolate Brown. I'll still wear them and think they'll be fine boots, just not as advertised.

These boots are super awesome. Broke them in in three days which usually takes me a few weeks. Super comfortable and warm.

I have had several pairs of these boots they last very good and give great comfort to your feet and support to your ankles.

For Looks and Style I would give this boot 5 stars ! These boots run narrow. I thought they would stretch and break in like most leather boots. Wrong ! They didn't stretch or give at all. They KILL MY FEET ! This summer. I may try soaking them in water and wear until they dry out. Until summer. I give up wearing these boots.

Bought these boots for my hubby, I think he’s owned a few pair throughout the years. He also had many pairs of Ecco boots but he has had much better luck with it’s the Rocky brand. They last longer, soles are nice, stylish to wear for dress or everyday. My hubby is also flat foot so these boots are perfect for him!

My son bought me these because I kept twisting my ankles on the ranch, I'm 54y/o. I have an auto immune disease that keeps my feet blistered in hot shoes. No problem with these, great air flow, warm in the winter although not adequate in 20F or lower temps, but ok for an hour or so with wool socks. I wear mine year round, we live in southern GA. We have ant problems so I am constantly spraying ant beds and often they start on my boots, I spray my boots all the time and only after 2 and 1/2 years have they started to fall apart, leather rot. I do not treat my boots like I should, no oiling, cleaning ect. I love these Boots!!! I wear a mans size 8 very true fit. (Woman's size 9)

If you need a wide toe box, there is ample room. Not in the same class as my Meindls hikers but for half the price very nice boot.

These boots need no break in time. Comfortable first time you put them in. This is my 4th pair.

I've had use these boots fer many years now, they are comfortable, real waterproof (goretex) and have put them to test in straight up downpours on the lake , never been wet because of that feature, boot is good all around boot for me ,workbook or casual boot, there light as a tennis shoe in mid top version especially, but light in full length version also , highly recommend , have put these boots to test , hope Rocky don't ever get rid of this style of boot

I bought these last month looking for light boots to wear around the yard, go to the hardware store, work in the shop and still have some sort of weather protection and comfort. I had the 8" version years ago and wore them to a frazzle. If these do as well I'd kick them up to 5 stars

After reading previous reviews, I followed suggestions to order a half size up, and I'm happy I did. I normally wear 10M for the majority, but opted for 10.5M + Wide for my purchase and it worked out perfect. After 1 month of wearing they are getting comfier every week & look great while they're at it.

I've had these boots since late March and wear them almost every day. My feet are very sensitive and they are the most comfortable hikers I have ever owned.

I am a long time Rocky boot wearer having spent over 20 years in Law Enforcement. I tried other brands through the years but always went back to Rocky. These hikers are light and comfortable. I have only wore them around the house but plan to put them through some wear and tear soon so we'll see how they hold up.

I have owned 6 pairs of the 8723 and tried to find some of the cloth and leather ones. My hunting friend had a pair of them and really was crazy about them. I want to own some more because I gave 3 pairs away after some surgery. I finally have been hunting another pair and cannot find any that still have the pull loop. I really do need that feature, especially after the surgery. Tell me your side of the story now.

This is my second purchase of these boots...the first was 10-12 years ago and they finally died (sole separated from upper). New boots are very comfortable but I was surprised that the sole has been changed from a flexible gum rubber to a stiffer black rubber sole. I value flexibility....too bad. Still very satisfied.

This is my second pair of the Outback Gore-Tex Hiker. The first pair I wore on construction sites, hunting, yard work, and I even wore them for after hours in Aspen,CO on a ski trip in 2013. Always comfortable and waterproof. My first pair finally developed a hole in the sole so I replaced them with my current pair. These hikers are comfortable right out of the box. So glad you guys still make these boots.

My man is very pleased ! He LOVES this style a long time ago maybe even 20 years ago he bought this boot at least it looks like this one except his old boots have the hook eyelets only(which he LOVES) He is very pleased to have a NEW pair. It was his birthday present.

My wife purchased these boots for me as a birthday present, when I turned 26 years old. I specifically asked for them. This December I turn 51 years old. Yes folks, no lie, these boots turn 25 years old, in a little over a month. The only thing I did to help protect them is that I sprayed an entire can of waterproofing spray on them when I got them new. I wish I could simply get them resoled, but it would cost more than a new pair. My feet do get a little wet now, but only due to the cracks in the soles. The pull loops ripped off years ago so I simply cut them off. Don't think I never wore them. I live in Northwest Pennsylvania and if the weather was wet or snowy, they were on my feet. Oddly enough, they never seemed to age and fit like a custom pair of gloves, on my feet. I just asked my wife for another pair, which is why I'm here leaving this review. I asked for the 9" ones as well. But, to be honest, I will be sad to see these ones go. They won't get thrown away that's for sure, but it's definitely time for a new pair. Thank you, Rocky Boots! These should be framed in a Rocky Boots Hall of Fame!

My new pair of Outback boots just arrived! These are superbly comfortable from the very first minute. The quality inside and out is great. Even the removable footbed is of higher quality than most shoes. This is the third pair of Rocky hikers I've purchased in the past 35 years - they last forever and look good doing it. In my opinion, Rocky Boots is unparalleled in quality and comfort. I ordered 1/2 size up from normal to accommodate thicker hiking socks and the fit is perfect. Can't wait to test out the Gore-Tex waterproof feature - I have every confidence that they will pull through.

Boots are comfortable right from the box all day long.

I had mine about a month. They are very comfortable boots. The shoe box was shipped in shrink wrapped plastic. Once opened there was a pronounced chemical glue smell. I put them outside for a few hours. That is the extent of anything approaching criticism.

I bought this boot for myself as I believe men's shoes tend to have better styles and more selections. I was just thankful it came in my size which doesn't happen a lot! I love these boots and will be wearing them regularly. Thanks, ROCKY!!!

I bought a pair on a quail hunting trip in GA last Fall and they fit perfectly right out of the box! Wore them all Fall pheasant hunting in Iowa. Could not be happier.

This is my second pair,,my first was about 18 years ago. A very comfortable, long lasting boot. One problem is the size. About every Rocky Boot I've bought is a size up from what I normally wear. The width is a wide and normally I am a medium. I have about six pairs of various Rocky Boots, never had a bad pair.

I purchased this boot a month ago and I am very pleased with the construction and quality of the boot. The boot is light weight and comfortable. One of the reasons I chose this boot is because of the Gore-Tex waterproof liner.

I have had 2 pairs of these boots and they are AMAZING! Very lightweight and durable in any kind of hunting situation. Can't beat them in my opinion.

I bought these boots because my Rocky work boots are super comfortable. I was not disappointed with The Outback boots. I have plantar fasciitis and these boots do wonders for my feet. I will be buying a new pair when these wear out.

I bought these 6 months ago, they didn't need broken in. They keep my feet dry in the rain, snow and are very comfortable.

I have just bought my second pair of these boots,they are very well made,they feel really strong and they are so comfortable right out of the box. I live in Northwest England, and I walk the local mountains in these boots,if they are tough enough for this, then they are tough enough for anything.

I have owned these before so this is a repeat purchase. They are quickly broken in and are very durable. I have owned the oxford, chukka and boot and I am very pleased. Sizing runs right on. A few years from now I will replace them with the same if possible

I have had 3 pairs of these boots, my dad got me into wearing them. He has had several more pairs than me. You can't beat them, feel great as soon as you put them on the first time out of the box. Looking at buying another pair once I get the extra money.

I bought these today at the outlet store in Nelsonville OH. Right out of the box extremely comfortable and appear to be very sturdy. I bought these because I think I will be able to wear them with slacks at work during the winter months. However they are so comfortable these boots might become my go to's. We went hiking directly after the purchase and the boots were comfortable and held up well on the snowy/icy trails. **Just a heads up, I normally wear a regular size shoes/boots but these boots were a little snug and fit much better in the wide.

I love these boots, this is my 4th pair. The last few years I was wearing brand X, as I could not find these in any store. I just decided to order them as brand X just wasn't the same. These are just as comfortable as I remember. I was debating on the 8" or 6" and settled for the 6" as that is what I bought in the past. My last 3 pairs were 10.5 and I ordered a 10.5 and they fit perfect.

This is my second pair of these boots. The first pair finally got too worn after 10 years of casual wear. They are very comfortable. Only complaint is the color is not "light brown" in my opinion like the first pair was. These are closer to chocolate brown.

I have owned this model for over 7 years and was wearing them mainly on Saturdays occasionally working outdoors etc. Having recently lost my job due to the Corona virus I have been wearing them almost daily for over a month and I can't believe how they have held up over the years! They are so comfortable and I can't believe how well the soles have held up as well. Most chuckas and boots I have purchased either wear out unevenly on the sole or they come un stitched or unglued before their time. Whatever rubber was used on this boot has kept its flexibility and worn very little granted I live deep woods in a cabin they still get plenty of pavement when I go get supplies. Great boot!

For guys like me with "thick" or tall feet it's important to have a shoe that accommodates that. The Chukka is my go to style for that. Rocky makes this boot perfectly rounded with the waterproof feature. Couple that quality design, fantastic craftsmanship & a company that I have experienced stands behind it's product & this is a no brainer. The ding is just for ascetics because I would like to see an arch on the sole on the inside at least. This has Zero impact on the boots comfort or performance. I am wearing these as I write...I almost forgot because they are my slippers.

I bought these boots this past May, it is now November and they have held up really well through casual wear and outdoor activities. They have been very comfortable and they keep looking better as they age. For the past month I've been on my feet at least 10 hours a day and I have found a huge unfortunate flaw in the design of these boots. On my right boot where the thread from the moccasin toe is knotted under the shoe lace flap is on the right side of my right foot. The knot pushes into the side of my foot and is so uncomfortable I had to stop wearing them to work. I love these boots and this would be such as easy fix for the company. As long as you don't end up with the knot on the outer side of your foot these shoes are absolutely worth the money.

They're well made boots and very comfortable, but they don't breathe at all . They make my feet damp and cold. Or just uncomfortable. I had to buy them because Rocky changed their Branson roper boots and I can't even get my foot halfway down in them. Sure wish they hadn't done that.

I was looking for a comfortable lower boot that was water proof to use cutting fire wood and working around the yard. Because of cutting wood I wanted a boot that was snug at the top to help keep a lot of wood chips from entering it but not as tight that it was uncomfortable when I went hiking. These boots meet all those needs while keeping your feet dry. These boots are also great for the early season dove hunts. Keep up the good work Rocky!

Have pair of these now, the sole is now glued on with 5200. They didn't make it one dove season.

was able to break them in in just a few weeks got a size 1/2 larger and the right hiking socks and their perfect

Living in the Northeast Tennessee Appalachian Mountains, we get all kinds of weather. Sunny and 70 degrees on Monday and rain / snow on Friday. I needed a good pair of Gore-Tex boots and took a chance on these. I am glad I did. They are very, very comfortable even from the first time I put them on and wore them all day. I highly recommend these!!!!!

Many years ago while working as a patrol officer, I wore Rocky boots on duty. Their comfort was the best I ever found. I just broke down and ordered a set of the rocky Outback and rediscovered that comfort the instant I put them on. I'm back and I will spend a few dollars more for the Rocky quality and comfort.

I bought a month ago for my husband as a work boot. He usually wears Justin boot but last 2 pair have not held up and hurt his feet. So far he loves these.

I've been buying this same boot for probably 20 years. I 'm really not sure how many pairs I've been through to be honest. They are so comfortable!! I ware my good pair to work and my old pair working around the house. They never seem to ware out. My good pair can last well over a year. I hit mine with brown shoe polish every few months to keep them looking good.

I got these boots with a gift certificate. Would have hesitated to pay the asking price otherwise, but will certainly buy another if these should wear out. I am diabetic and have to be very careful about fit and comfort, but these boots fit well and I can wear them for extended periods of time. Thanks for making these great , casual boots!

This is my 2nd pair of these boots. First ones lasted 3 years of hiking and working each day. Takes a little bit to break them in, but once they are, you won't want to take them off.

I got these for my birthday and they are among the most uncomfortable rocky shoes I have ever owned. When rocky used to make the hand sowen chukkas they wear the most with out a doubt the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I don't know how many pair I have had but I would wear them until they literally fell apart. Thinking these would be as comfortable my wife bout me these I only weigh 130 lbs. and they absolutely kill my feet. Wish they still made the chukkas.

I purchased a pair of Rocky boots several years ago. Still have them wore the soles down and they just started to separate. I needed a new pair found these boots I enjoy walking not on pavement but the woods . I received these boots on a few days. Broke them in wearing them a few hours a day. Now they form my feet and now they are very comfortable.

I’m purchasing now my 3rd pair of these boots. My last purchased was 3/2019. Wear them hard everyday hiking , working , hunting, great boot to ride my Harley , best boot for your money. Not once have my feet ever get wet at all.

This replaces a great older pair of Rocky boots that seemed immortal. These seem almost as good, but two pairs of hooks for the laces is too much. The old pair had just one set and that was fine. Also not a fan of the pro-gun political propaganda included in the package.

I have just purchased my 5th pair of these boots. The only thing that have ever worn out were the soles. If you don't have to climb steel or sharp angles it is the perfect all around boot. It is light weight which puts a little more spring in your step. Please don't ever stop making this boot!

This is the third pair of these I have owned. When I tried them on I immediately noticed a difference in the fit. Rocky has changed something in the footbed. It is not as form fitting and comfortable as previous ones were.

I have been wearing this boot for hiking & work for 20yrs or more . I keep 2 pairs at all times . 1 I wear until I need the 2nd & then I order another pair or 2 . So I always have a pair at the ready . Thank you Rocky

This boot would be a 5+ if only the sole would be a little thicker and more resilient. A great trail boot but not good on rocks bc you can feel the rocks through the sole.

I bought these a month ago great fit great quality.

Comfortable from the start. Light weight, flexible and true to size. Because of the flexible light weight sole one will feel hard objects under foot but that should be expected, and not enough to bother me at all. The gore-tex booty keeps feet dry but of course the nubuck leather will absorb moisture if not treated with a good nubuck & suede protector.

I got my boots about a month ago. This is my third pair. The boots wear well. The only issue I have is the top two fast loops. The laces get caught and are difficult to use. They frequently come untied because of the fast loops. Other than that I’m pleased with the boot
