My husband was very pleased with his new bad weather hat

I don't really like cowboy-style hats but this is the only kind I would wear. It's great in inclement weather and isn't flashy. Comfortable fit.

I never ordered A hat online and this was my first. It came in just 2 business days and was A perfect fit and great looking but not to flashy. Its for fishing hiking and working and is waterproof. I just cant believe I was able to get this great hat for such A low price. You will be getting more orders from me.

Got this hat for hubby but I look fabulous in it. We wear the 2 Cowboys hats and get wonderful complements. Such fun!

After a 4-year-long challenge of cancer (multiple myeloma) with as many relapses as remissions, my clothing & accessory purchases now have one paramount requirement: sun block. I needed a hat that would serve as head protection in all weather including snow and rain, but wanted the protection of sunblock material as well. The hats I have purchased since my diagnosis are physician endorsed sun blockers but more suited to walking/playing with the dogs, yard work or gardening. Having adopted 6 special needs' rescued Greyhounds and fostering 2-3 additional Greys at a time, and having my own mobile grooming business specializing in Greyhounds keeps me extremely busy in a region with every kind of weather imaginable. I needed a 'go to' hat that I didn't have to worry about getting dusty, dirty, blowing off, being too tight, getting caught in a downpour or snowstorm or switching to other hats with the seasons here in Massachusetts. But even more so, it HAD to have a high UPF protection rating (at least 40-50). This Bootlegger has a UPF 50 rating indicating the fabric will allow only 1/50th (roughly 2%) of available UV radiation to pass through it. TheBootlegger IS now my one and only "go to" hat. I have a small head and most hats I like rest on the bridge of my nose and cover my ears. I purchased this hat in the "Small" having a 21 1/4" head. It sits properly where it should, doesn't bob and weave as I move, doesn't fall off when I bend over, and stays in place even without using the chinstrap in winds that recently toppled trees and power lines in a freak Halloween storm. Oh, and I must say, it looks fantastic even on this "hair-barely-there' head. Having said that, I have no doubt this will continue to fit me extraordinarily well as my hair grows back. It is a bit more inflexible (stiffer material) than I thought it would be, but I'm now thinking I love that part of it best. The wind/chin strap hasn't been necessary yet but with the terrible Halloween Nor'Easter we just experienced with almost 2 weeks of power outages, this hat got a workout in all kinds of weather and it exceeded my expectations. Climbing in/out/over/under toppled tree limbs and branches to clear the yard just so the dogs could find a section of yard for relief, my yarn hats and ski caps would have caught and snagged and yanked on my neck as I crawled through the damage and debris. The Bootlegger did no such thing. Protected me from the sun that followed the storm, the wind and even a few straggler branches that continued to fall as I worked to clear the yards. This hat gave me no problems at all. I also love the fact that I don't need one of those 'shower cap' covers to protect this baby from the elements. If the Bootlegger was offered in a variety of colors, I would definitely purchase several more and retire all my 'other' hats to the closet. I came to Shepler's as a last resort when I couldn't find what I wanted anywhere else. Shame on me. I should have come here first. This hat goes so well with the drover raincoat I purchased (and love) from Sheplers a few years back. I don't know why I didn't think of Sheplers first. I certainly will look here first for any future purchases.

I bought the hat and it fits great. Looks great and the women are all over it.

I was hesitant to order a hat online without being able to try it on but the measurements they gave were accurate and it fits great. I love the look and feel of the hat and you can bend it to the exact shape that you want. Just a great overall hat at a great price!

I bought this hat for my husband as a gift and he loves it. He loved the attractive design and that it is waterproof. The size is perfect. This is perfect for all his outdoor adventures.

i bought this hat about 3 weeks ago and i love it. i now unfortunately live in the city, and the hat almost makes me feel like i'm on the farm/ranch again. all i need to do is imagine cars as animals, the concrete and buildings as grass and trees, then i may feel at home... and ya, it doesn't work.

Received the hat in two days,took it out of the box,the size was perfect,put it on and went right out in the rain. totally waterproof.Would recommend this hat to anyone that works in foul weather.

The hat I chose arrived in Perfect Condition and the sizing chart was more than accurate. Although I returned the hat due to it not being quite what I wanted in choice after trying it on. The hat was of outstanding quality as well as the company standing by it's return policy. Because of that I will plan to deal with this company in the future and recommend them to many. I believe I may have made a better choice if the hat was shown on a person or mannequin.

Well I reckon my head isn't as big as others tell me it is. Had to exchange XL for a Large size & still waiting for exchange hat to git to me.

Perfect for horseriding! It has a chin cord,so you don't have to worry about losing your hat while riding in trot or canter.And it is waterproof and has a nice ventilation due to the vents. I wear my Stetsons and Resistols on the ground;and this one in the saddle.

This is my second Bootlegger. It is stylish, holds it's shape, keeps my head warm in the winter. Great Hat!

Feels about half to a size too large...order one down, you will probably be very happy, the quality is SUPERB! I am a 7-1/2 (LG) hat size. and when I order a large it were 1/2-1 size too large...if it is too small, it will stretch out.

I recently purchased my Out Back Trading Co. Bootlegger oilskin hat. It arrived very quickly,and I was impressed with it right away.The hat was exactly what was pictured online,and it fit perfectly. It's a very nice looking hat that I can wear out ,or at work..

One of the best hats I own. Very comfortable, shape it any way you want to.

For some reason, the hat is only offered in black oilskin while the oilskin coat comes in black and brown. You need a brown hat to match the coat. If it came in brown, I would rate it a 5.

Wore this hat down the river, dumped and soaked it a couple times, it held up beautifully, looks good as new. Go by the other reviews as far as sizing goes. Mine fit perfect :)

Best darn hat ever. I think everyone should wear these. The world would be a better place

I bought this about a month ago, I've only worn it a few times but each time it has kept me dry so it performs well. It has a very classic look about it which I enjoy. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of more is because the hat itself is very stiff/hard. I wasn't expecting it to be so stiff. Maybe they're all like that and it was my misconception. Either way I enjoy it and hope that as I wear it and break it in it softens up a little.
