Took a few days to break in but surprisingly comfortable, lighter than expected. Handled multiple range days and still looks new.

I’m usually in my boots 10-12hrs a day and I usually stay quite comfortable.During that time I m mostly on my feet and moving,not with these boots.I can’t wait to get them off .

I've always enjoyed the performance of these boots and their craftsmanship. When I found they came in black and could shine the i knew they would be perfect for my new job.

They are more comfortable and lighter weight than the issued boots but they are a little tight around the ankle making it hard to put them on and take them off without loosening the laces all the way down other than that they have been great

I have worn Danner boots for 16 years and never had a problem but for some reason I went with a different type of boot and they hurt my feet in two locations I can’t even tie them tight or it hurts more I have to wear them loose so the do t hurt I’m very disappointed in the Reckoning boot

I have not had the opportunity to use these boots for their intended purpose in the summer - it's winter here in Northern Ohio - but they are very comfortable wearing them around the house and did not require any significant amount of "break-in".

Bought these for my Son at Fort Benning. He loves them.

Solid feeling boots. Length is fine, the width is narrower than expected.

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my son who in the Army reserves. . . he really likes them!

My only dislike was I does not have a leather loop to slide a finger through to assist in sliding your foot through.

They seem a little tall and they do not match the picture at all. I got the hot because I work in the heat but they still get super hot.

They fit like a real combat boot. Needs to be broken in, but once they are your feet will thank you. Now I just have to wait for the -20 to go away…

This pair of boots is well worth the price! This pair fits my feet perfectly and provides the support I need for my ankles. The best feature is the lug sole; it provides good traction on loose and uneven surfaces. Likewise, the sole is quiet on hard surfaces- essential for stealth movement in a built-up environment. Of the 6+ pairs of Danner boots I have purchased for work over 37 years of service, I judge these to be the best to date. Thank You for continuing to produce high quality American made boots!

Absolutely phenomenal boots. You can tell that they’re good right outta the box and when they’re laced up it feels even better!

Great fit and great support. I got them in wide and they fit perfect.

Purchased this R851 boot in 2019, and although it is no longer available - R851 currently is called Reckoning - I do have some concerns with a boot labeled "Berry Compliant", when after several years of moderate to regular use, the outer sole, near the heel seems to come undone. This is my second pair of Reckoning; I own a pair in Sage, which still is going strong, and much older than the boot described in this review. I hope Danner takes note of this. I love their products, and will continue to purchase, although now I am on the fence with a new pair of Reckoning.

Perfect fit and really comfortable right out of the box. Almost no break in time needed for the boot itself.

Not as comfortable for 16 hour shifts as I had hoped. Also relatively heavy.

Great boot! Nice look and feel. Only complaint is that the soles seem to be loosely glued to the leather upper. I can see the separation happening already. I’ve only had the boots a month and a half.

I really like the boots once they are on. They are very comfortable. My biggest problem is they are nearly impossible to put on and take off. There is no loop on the back of the boot to pull them on and getting your foot out is next to impossible. The boots have to be nearly unlaced to get your foot out.

These are by far the most comfortable boots directly out of the box. Daily use for 10hrs min a day.

Not the best boots I have ever bought. The sole feel like your walk on cement, no give at all. As you can see from the pictures attached, the sole is deformed. Definitely going to the back of the closet or in the Salvation Army bin.

Quality materials are top notch. I can’t really recommend comfort ability. They feel like I’m walking on tile. End of the day, my heels and the balls of my feet were in pain. Danner, you got to do something about the inner sole cushion. I had to go out and buy inner sole insert replacements.

I got these in wides and my normal size however the toe cap really squeezes and rubs the pinky and ring toes. Not bad but I would say go a half size up. Maybe help negate that. Takes a minute to break in but they are comfortable. Also the wide is still narrow.
