I originally bought one from Pittsburgh in the waterfront when I wanted to exchange it they wouldn't let me exchange it cuz it was the only one they had at the time so I had to call in buy another one drive down there exchange it for money because they said you don't have a return policy so in a nutshell it cost me more money than I did before cuz I had to buy two and then pay shipping it wasn't my fault that the inner liner was ripped on the first one. Honestly I think because I looked at it someone returned it ripped. Then I bought it

The zipper grip needs to be larger, like they use to be,also it should be made of brass,not this tiny aluminum pull.That is why I only gave a 3 rating on functionality.

If you are looking for a replacement for your older model Rain Defender Sweatshirt, this isn't it. You'll not find anything as high of quality from Carharrt since they changed manufacturers. It's an OK zip sweat, just not the higher Rain Defender quality as in years past.

Great coat. We’ll made. My husband felt that this jacket ran pretty large. He is almost always a xL but in this coat he was a large.

Bigger hood and higher neck zip is much better than old ones. The material is better before.

I got an xl tall. It fits like a 2xl super tall and the pockets design are irritating with silly little flaps. The hood drapes over my face like I'm a monk or something. I used to love my rain defenders, this is the 3rd generation I have purchased since 2019 and is the poorest quality of them all. I've already given it away.

Not quilt lined. It's lined with fish net and the wind blows right through it. Wanted quilt lined.

I previously had a similar Carhartt jacket but left it on a worksite or in a hotel room a few years ago. Bought this one as a replacement & I love it. It's everything the old one was & more. It's warm, durable & the added water repellency is a huge plus. Speaking of huge, this jacket runs large. I'm between an XL and XXL, but this XL jacket is almost too big for me.

I was issued One of these where I was employed. I liked it so much I purchased one after I retired.

Had the original of this. Would not have gotten anything else but this again. I was disappointed with the lack of product pictures to show the inside of the jacket. Where are the pictures of the inside pockets and lining, You need to get that right for this product! I was also disappointed with the zipper in the inside pocket. I'm also annoyed at the sleeve length. This jacket need about half an inch to an inch added to the sleeves on the regular fit. Nevertheless, while different and lighter than the previous version. This jacket still dominates any other hoodie I own...in fact it dominates any other hoodie I've come across. The original I owned was in the Chocolate color (IYKYK) had that one for about 10-15 years. I was looking to get that again, but I'm happy with the black. I'd wear it all the time if I could, but it wouldn't improve my social awkwardness. Buy with confidence, knowing that this jacket will serve you very well! Bought this a couple years back now and decided to laud it after keeping me dry in a 10 minute downpour while waiting at a bus stop. It's truly my favorite article of daily outerwear.

I now have 3. Gray, Blue and Black and I wear them a great deal.

Bought this for my grandson, Eli and he loves it! It is of high quality and appearance; so much so, that the first one got stolen. This was a replacement and he loves it as well. Perfect jacket for those transitional seasons. Wore it to my niece’s softball game in early April. Weather went from 50 degrees to 37 degrees with a light drizzle. The kids were miserable, but I was warm and dry. The size runs a little large. As it should. Its the most comfortable jacket I own.

Very nice quality. Large is my size but this jacket is big. Just bought a medium and it fits great. I'm keeping both. Its not a problem.

There has been some changes to the rain defender that I really don’t care for. The zipper is the most annoying . The right side of the zipper won’t lay down and constantly rubs your neck when not zipped completely.

My husband needed the canopy green for work. I didn't see it listed so I thought it was the same as the Ink Green but it's not. I was disappointed that the actual Carhartt site didn't have all the colors available.

Have had this sweatshirt for about 3 weeks. Handled light rain and blocked 35 MPH winds without any problems. Ran a bit large and had to order one size smaller.

Am disappointed on the hood , does not seem to be as thick as jacket. The right hand pocket has a small inner pocket that serves no purpose but to get into the way of using the pocket for your hands

I ordered 4 of them for the boys in the family for Christmas. Had one before and loved that I kept me dry from the rain.

Purchased as a gift for my husband, he's very pleased! It's warm, he uses the hood, He has not worn in rain/snow yet.

It's ok on the outside. I bought it because I liked my old one that I wore out. The new one had a different lining that is uncomfortable and scratchy. I don't like it. It may soften with washing but I doubt it.

Really nice thick material. Great loose fit. I ordered a second one. The only reason it got 4 stars is because of the little pocket inside the large pocket. It is awkwardly placed, makes it more difficult to put things into the larger pocket because the little pocket is in the way. I'm going to sew the little pockets shut because they are so annoying. Still a warm and snuggly hoodie though!

Perfect fit and perfect warmth, have many other Carhartt products and have yet to find anything I've been dissatisfied with. Highly recommend, it's listed as midweight but has a good bit of heft to it. Way heavier than the heavyweight zip up that I also own. Should last several years and be plenty warm enough for West Virginia winters.

Great hoodie. Loose fir is great and not so baggy that I can wear it under my parka in subzero weather. I can work outside for hours just wearing this jacket in weather down to 35-40 degrees. Easily one of my favorites and pretty good deal for the money.

I would have given it 5 stars but there is a little pocket in the inside of one of the outside pockets that's extremely annoying when you try to put your hand in the pocket. It's in the way, period! Otherwise, excellent hoodie.

So disappointed they changed the fabric on this sweatshirt. My previous one is about eight years old and other than being obviously faded from washing it is still holding up just fine and the fabric is still smooth. I bought this replacement recently so I would have a cleaner looking sweatshirt and within weeks the entire front of the sweatshirt is pilled. I can’t believe how fast the fabric is breaking down and pilling up into little balls. It looks Horrible. Oh I can only imagine within a year it’s going to have holes in it. I wish they never change the design. I went back to wearing the old one again.

Size runs big- usually an XL but L is plenty- 6’2 and 195. Very warm- hoodie is big and goes over cap easily. Pockets could be a bit larger. I wear it in “coat conditions” here in SW IL. Repels light rain. Appears it will last a long time and is worth the money. I appreciate that Carhartt has not “cheapened-up” their products.

Absolutely fantastic sweatshirt. My husband wore this sucker fishing in the river and after reaching into the cold water up to his elbows with the sleeves down for almost 2 hours of soaking the sleeves it finally started to get wet. It keeps him very warm and is super durable. The only thing he complains about is that it's rough on the inside.

Bought this jacket in carbon gray, the color faded with large spots and splash after washing with oxy combined detergent. Customer Service ask for information and I provided, then they ask for additional information and I provided again, and they ask for more information (typical run around). I had no problems with other products from Carhartt before.

Love this jacket. Warm and flexible enough for me to run errands in the northeast winter. I like the little pocket for chapstick. Find it better than the women's version. The hood comes up enough to cover your face and keep the wind out. The ribbed wrist has give so you can move the arm up and down. The stitching is high quality.

Don't like the revised pocket flaps...zipper goes to far up..digs into your neck...sticking is not as tight..I have many of your sweat hood for over 12 years old including 2 rain defender...I don't see this holding up to long..your product has deteriorated......

It's a great sweatshirt and nicely made. Only wish it had a slightly larger hood to keep head fully out of the rain. Sometimes it feels like it will slip off the back of your head. The pockets are great but could use a zipper close to secure your personal items when sitting down. The pockets open a little when seated. Not a show stopper by any means! It's a warm, rainy day sweatshirt that feels durable yet cozy and looks nice too!!

I am 6‘1“ tall and weigh 175 pounds and my medium size was a bit large in the body yet short in the arms and the hood did not come forward enough for my liking so I returned it.

I like the loose fit, it's what I expected. The size is pretty big so keep that in mind when purchasing. The flaps that cover the pockets are good and the fit of the hood is functional and doesn't block my peripheral vision. I haven't tested it out in any moisture yet but everything else is 10/10

My favorite sweater. I wear it more than any other winter item. Great against the rain in my hometown which ain’t much. Great if your driving a fork lift or riding a motorcycle.

So breathable. Working in it isn't the moist rainforest like my old jacket was.

I am 5'9", 31" waist and 39" chest. The medium fits great across the shoulders and chest but sleeves are too long and midsection is too loose or baggy. I am going to order a small and see if that fits.

I have worn jackets like this for years. They used to be my favorite coat for working. They completely ruined this coat for me. First of all, they put flaps over the pockets making it difficult to get into. Second, they put a separate smaller pocket inside the big pocket that your hand goes into after successfully navigating the stupid flap. Third, they changed the fabric to something softer, and less heavy duty. I work with chainsaws and other machines that created chips and dust. The previous version of this coat never collected these things. The new one is awful. I had a hard time getting the shavings off of it with a lint roller. I sincerely hope the Carhartt will reconsider this new version or at least bring back the old one for people who actually wear these clothes to work.

Love it! I'm an aquarist so i get splashed a lot. Keeps me warm and dry in the aquarium and out on the boat. Inside pocket needs to be slightly wider and deeper to accommodate a smart phone in a waterproof case. Love the flaps on the hand warmer pockets.

We love love love our jackets. These were given to us by a friend of ours and in return, we purchased one for each of them so they would quit looking at us with envy! Now, everyone is happy! I wear mine to even feed the horses in the rain and have remained very dry. Quality is exceptional as is all Carhartt products.

I've owned my first one for about 12 years now and the cuffs started deteriorating last year. So I purchased a new one just before Thanksgiving and while both are thermal lined, the new one is warmer which is nice but the stitching wasn't done correctly and you can see that with time it will come undone. Would have gotten a 5 star but 4 for poor quality control.

My guy says it's cozy and warm! It looks great on him and indestructible.

I have bought several versions of this zip up over the years and have had zero issues. This new design is terrible. They change alot the zipper is not as strong and get caught on something in the last few inches it's also getting ready to rip at the connection point. The outer is material that it made from is pilling old coat never did this. They made the zipper go higher for a neck cover which if not zipped up all the way curls in towards your face which is annoying but not as annoying as if you try to zipper it up all the way. It's still warm but the inner liner is still itchy if they were going to change something it should have been the liner. The zipper is cheap which was never a issue it's like they put a cheaper smaller zipper to save them money. Won't buy this again which is sad been wearing this for winters in michigan for years.

I bought this hoodie thinking it may not be the best, I was worried it may be too hot or not really resist the rain. Let me tell you this jacket it awesome. It's plenty warm but not overwhelming and after a heavy rain yesterday it held up. I will get this in one or two more colors.
