It is not completely water proof but the rain defender material allows me to run out to the van without putting my bulky jacket on during those pesky rain storms. I did find that it lost it's color and faded a bit within the first couple months of use.

Got this for my husband as a Christmas gift to replace a previous quarter zip hoodie. It took a great deal of searching as the previous one was discontinued fav. However, this one looks great, was was warm for our walk on the beach on a sunny but colder than normal December in NC. It seemed a little big (5' 8" 175 lbs) at first but after getting it on and wearing it he is happy. Would definitely recommend.

Great sweatshirt, my only complaint (and the reason I gave 3 stars for appearance) is that the bottom looks a little loose and wavy like an old t-shirt collar. It could use a little elasticity or maybe not as wide of bottom trim, just my personal opinion tho, besides that love it!

Hands down my favorite hoodie. I have a dark blue one that I wear everyday to work. Most days it’s enough, others I have to add a layer or two, as I live in Iowa and it gets chilly. Overall this is a fenominal hoodie. I would highly recommend this brand and this shirt to anyone who asks. I love this company and wear many Carhartt products. The only thing that I would change is that I would add a pen pocket or two. I look forward to many more Carhartt releases.

I work at a chemical plant in Colorado that has me outside the majority of my shift, this hoodie is perfect for late fall and winter conditions. The hoodie itself is relatively thick but extremely comfortable!! I was recently caught in a heavy downpour outside and repelled the H20 extremely well keeping my under attire nice and dry!! Highly recommended for outside labor

Excellent. Lasts many hours in rain in maintaining a dry interior. During a torrential downpour it won’t block everything, but it is noticeably better than other hoodies. The quarter zip looks fashionable but if you have a beard it can snag (not unlike other hoodies, but because of the stiff position of the ends, it is more likely). The color is excellent. The durability and quality are excellent. The fit of the large tall is perfect for me. Recommend!

Love it’s durability. Got it for late season mowing and fall cleanups. Keeps you warm while outside and holds off the rain. It’s also perfect to wear while plowing snow. It does get very hot if you’re wearing it inside.

Received this sweater about a week ago and I cant stop wearing it. It looks and feels great! I initially ordered just and regular large in black and navy blue, when I received it it felt a little on the short side, but I guess its preference I like my clothes jist a liiiiiitle bit longer, so I returned the regular large’s and ended up going with the large tall, since it add only 2 more inches to the length. Game changer! Glad I did that because what a difference it made! Im 5’8” 220 and Large Tall is perfect for me! Im usually an XL when it comes to jackets, tshirts and sweaters, as everyone has mentioned definitely go one size down, bc if i would of gotten and XL it probably would of been waaay to baggy. All in all im happy with my purchase! Thank you carhartt!

I’ve been buying this sweatshirt for my sons for many years. They usually get one every year for Christmas and they love them. They are neat looking with the mock collar, they aren’t just for work. Wash and dry nice, no shrinkage. I would like to see them in more colors, they used to come in dark green but unfortunately that color was discontinued. I would highly recommend this sweatshirt.

This has become my new favorite sweater. It's very warm and looks great. I only wish the aglets were metal instead of the plastic, but it's fine! It does run a little big. I'm usually a L but bought a M and it fits great. It'll shrink in the dryer the first time too. I'd suggest to pay attention to the sizing chart.

I purchased the charcoal color for my boyfriend for Christmas. I washed it according to the instructions and the color started fading by the zipper, around the pocket and around the sleeves. I'm not sure why this happened. I also purchased the navy color for him and it washed much better. I was really disappointed with the charcoal, especially for the price.

Looks and feels great, true to size and is made with quality materials... but it does NOT function well in the rain despite the product's description. Was outside for 20 minutes in a very mild rain, and the hoody/sweatshirt is soaked. Not as much as a standard cheap hoody would be, but very close. If you don't care about moisture wicking in this product, you'll enjoy it. If you purchased it with this function in mind like I did, you will be disappointed.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and he LOVES it. He is ordering another one already. He is very picky about his hoodies and usually returns them if he didn't pick them out himself but his one was perfect. He likes that the hoodie is not too tight around his neck and the collar makes it look slightly more upscale than a traditional hoodie.

My girlfriend got me one of these a few years back in forest green. Wish they still had that color. I wore the crap out of it. I have 4 now and wear it from temps starting at 50 and once it hits about 0 I add a vest. I wear one all the time. Watch out though your girlfriend or wife will try to take it when your not looking. They really need to get a girls line of these.

Love the 1/4 zip for taking it on and off, and to help release some heat when working. The Large Tall size is perfect for my 6'-2" 185 lb frame. I have long arms and the sleeve length is great as well. The fabric weight is just right as well for working outside in our Wisconsin winter.

I have purchased 2 of these hoodies and I am extremely pleased with the design and durability. I work outdoors at a grain elevator and wear one of these almost daily during the colder months. It has seemed before that it was difficult to find something warm enough yet not to bulky when trying to get things done. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is active and spends lots of time outdoors. The only reason I only gave 4 out of 5 stars is the fact I believe that nothing is perfect and all things can become better someway somehow.

My man has been wearing the regular classic Rain Defender hoodies for many years and they are 5 stars! The local stores were out of his size, so we had to buy this style instead. HUGE MISTAKE. The fabric started pilling even before the first wash! And the stitching started coming undone as well---all during the first couple of days of wear. This hoodie is a cheap cheap imitation of what Carhartt used to be in terms of quality and expectations. He has an excavation business and Carhartt has always been his go to brand. But after this experience we are seriously thinking of checking out other brands. I would say only buy this if you are a hipster who wants to look like you work for a living. If you actually are a person who does serious hard work outside, steer clear of this hoodie as it is a complete waste of cash.

I was looking for a water resistant hoodie for the docking season and I love Carhartt gear. Being in waders and a thick hoodie kept me warm and dry while being waist deep or deeper in water taking docks out of the water. Although it was a little larger than I anticipated it being the extra room of the hoodie allows layers under with comfort.

I’ve been on the hunt for years for a decent heavy weight hoodie. Living in Texas, most every hoodie I’ve ever found in a store or have ever bought was thin. And every one of them seems to not be quite warm enough once the temperature drops below 50, until I found the Rain Defender. When winter time temperatures are swinging from near freezing to around 60 degrees through the day, it’s a pain to have to break out one of the heavier coats to stay warm in the morning only to have to change into a lighter jacket/hoodie after just a couple of hours. This hoodie falls right in the middle. Heavy enough to stay fairly warm when it’s below 40 yet light enough I don’t need to change into something thinner just because it got up to 55 at lunch time and I can stay comfortable the whole time.

I purchased this hoodie for myself as I was looking for something to keep me warm and dry when I took my dog out at night. I can't say enough good things about this sweatshirt. The fit is perfect. I love the cuffs on the sleeves they keep the material in place but are NOT too tight. The zippered neck is great for keeping your heat in or for allowing some out as needed. The rain defender aspect is awesome, it takes a long time for rain/snow to soak through the material and I mean a long time. The large pocket on the front is great, I can carry so much in it. I love the small inside pocket - my phone fits perfectly in it. The material washes so well and is stain resistant (I am not sure if this was an intended feature) as I spilled oil on the front of it and it washed right out. Speaking of washing it, I was worried that it would look different after washing it.. no it looks just as great as the day I bought it. I have found only one down fall - I also bought myself a new jacket but I have yet to wear it because I love my sweatshirt so much I grab it first. Please Carhartt add new colors to this product.

This is the perfect hoody! It is warm, rain resistant, and comfortable. I have worn it in temperatures down in the teens and I stayed warm. The quarter zip and still having a hood is the perfect combination because it is easy to get on and off. I bought the Large Tall size because I am 6'4" and 215 lbs. It fits me perfectly without being too wide in the chest so it gets ij the way of my activities. Highly recommend for work or casual wear.

I like everything about this hoodie! It's warm, soft, so comfortable that I'll look forward to winter, just so I can wear it. This will be the last winter garment I put away when it starts to warm up (a.k.a., spring), and the first one out next fall. I'd give this hoodie to all of my friends, except for two reasons : 1.) I don't have any friends, and 2.) I'm cheap. The cost is a little high, but in this case you do get what you pay for.

Comfortable, warm, and functional with plenty of room in the pockets for your hands and stuff.

Very heavy warm and cozy! I ordered for myself and first got the 2xl tall because I wanted it to be oversized and long enough to wear with leggings. It was too long. Exchanged it for a regular 2xl still oversized and right length! May order a 1xl too as this one is still a little big but will be great for bonfires and ballgames.

We, my wife and I, own a lot of Carhartt clothing, and this hoodie has become my favorite, hands down. I'm 5' 11", 195 lbs., and I'm wearing a XL comfortably. The fit is loose, the front pocket is roomy, and the bonus right small pocket is good for a wallet or keys. The hood is ample for any headgear. The material is great as you go in and out of the indoors to the outdoors, all without perspiring a lot. And the ability to shed light rain is appreciated, as all you do is shake it briskly, and continue on. Launders well, and does not shrink. As the cold weather season has just begun, I will be adding a few more to my everyday wear wardrobe. Thank you Carhartt for another great product we didn't know we needed.

If you are a woman ordering this I would suggest ordering one size smaller. I prefer sz L in most men's sweatshirts, but I should have ordered a M. These wash very well with no piling at all.

I have a lot of Carhartt apparel. From fr's, shirts, bibs, coats, pants and hoodies. I buy them because they are well made and long lasting. Up until now always very very consistent in size. I bought a regular Carhartt 3XL Tall hoodie last year, it's great but really big on me. I am 6'6" 290lbs...So when I bought this hoodie I figured a 2XL Tall would fit me perfect..quite the opposite! The sleeves were very short and the length wasn't there. I had to send it back and order a 3XL Tall. Beyond that it's made very well and constructed out of very thick material.

I really like the quarter-zip. It makes it much easier to put on and take off when you are someone like me who has a larger head (7 3/4) and wears glasses. I just wish you made them in the middle and light weights.

I get cold very easy. My husband suggested a pullover hoodie, but I've always been reluctant because I hate to have to take my glasses off and on and I can't control temps with a zipper, well, this allows that. It has been great and now I want one in each color. Hands down the best hoodie I have ever owned.

I love these 1/4 zip sweatshirts. I have never liked sweatshirts rubbing on my neck. This sweatshirt prevents that feel and provides great movement. I wish they made it in more colors. I have all four colors.

Hands down incomparable quality. The first one I purchased for my husband is now years old and still wearable. That’s saying something, because he paves and landscapes for a living all over the state of Maine. He has several, and wears one every day under a Carhartt vest all fall and early winter. He even wears them in the early spring months. When I ask him what he wants for Christmas, anniversary, birthday... it’s always one of these!

I like the extra bulk of this sweatshirt. I have worn it in light rain and it does shed water however I am curious as to how that will hold up to numerous washings. I love the mock neck gaiter inside the hood. The only reason that I did not rate it five stars is because it must be washed by itself. The fiber pile pulls out and clings to other clothes.

Gave it as a gift to my husband, and he loved it. The materia is very good quality, heavy, and durable. The hoodie feels and looks very nice. Hoodie provides nice warmth for winter months. Great hoodie, I would recommend this product. The sleeves are a bit short if you have long arms. Originally bought Regular Large for my husband who is 6'2", but had to return for a Tall Large because of the sleeves being a bit short on him. Also, you can't do exchanges; you must do a return for a refund, and purchase the new item separately. The return process was easy and simple, and the refund was issued quickly.

This is actually a thick med-heavy weight sweatshirt! Quality! Like back in the 80s. Bought this sweatshirt for my husband for Christmas. Ordering him a new one as I already claimed the 1st. Nice thick sweatshirt! Comfortable. Soft! Being a MBC Warrior with severe radiation damage Shirts/sweatshirts have to be soft. This is very soft. Perfect weight. Ordered a L for my husband. Carhartt= L. Everything else XL L fits baggie but covers my tush and keeps my back warm. Dripping wet. I don’t weigh that much Might have to order 2. One for a back up… finally find things I love and they stop making. Highly recommend !!!!

We ordered these for our company work sweatshirts. Our employees love them and they look nicer than a standard sweatshirt. Larger sizes tend to run a little big. Most that usually wear 2XL went with XL/XL Tall instead. There was some color variation amongst the carbon heather sweatshirts I ordered. I'm assuming this is due to old inventory/new manufacturer. A couple were more graphite gray and had more "heather" pattern to them than the others which were more of a blueish gray (not as dark as the website pictures). If you've ordered this sweatshirt in carbon heather before, the color may look different.

My husband and I each bought one of these over a year ago. I am a petite woman but was talked into it by a young female Carhartt sales associate. It is way too large for me, but she was not wrong. I wear it on the boat and it blocks the wind and sea spray. I wear it hiking in the winter with 4-5 layers under it. The ribbed cuffs and hem allow this hoodie to work even for a 4'11" petite woman like me.

I love the fit of Carhartt, I have to size down from my normal hoodie purchases of 2XL to XL. I love how warm and thick this garment is and love that I can zip up the hoodie to my chin if I want that. I will be buying more of these. I also love that the rain defender also acts as a buffer for the wind. The wind doesn't cut through this hoodie making it warm in the wind and rain!

I received this Carhartt hoodie as a Christmas gift. I expected a good-quality hoodie, but it exceeded my expectations. It's now my favorite jacket and the warmest I own. The quality is exceptional, and it can be used as a winter coat with a thin layer underneath. I've worn it in 20-degree weather with a T-shirt and was more than comfortable. The water-repelling fabric keeps rain out. There's also a little hidden pocket in the front pouch. Carhartt, you've truly earned my loyalty and become a lifelong customer. Well done!

Got these for all the men in my family! Bought 6 of them. They call me about once a week to tell me how much they love it! They all love the quarter zip because it does not feel tight around their neck. They love the collar because of the added warmth at their neck and they say it gives it a nicer look than a regular hoodie. They love the heaviness of the sweatshirt, it it very thick and heavy. They can go outside without a coat because of how heavy and warm this is. It has turned into everyones favorite. Will definitely look for this style again.

Typical Carhartt quality, heavy weight material which equals warmth. Fit is a little large but thats better than too snug. The quarter zip sweatshirt is easier to pull over my head and the zipper slso allows you to unzip to cool off.

Living up in eastern Washington, temperatures in the winter can sometimes drop to single digits. Based off my initial impressions, this will be a good addition to my fall/winter wardrobe. The build quality on the hoodie is nice and it truly is heavyweight. The 1/4 zip feature is a nice touch and does a great job of covering the neck. I also like the security pocket as it allows you to separate some small items from the main kangaroo pouch. My one gripe with this product is the length, as it comes half way down my butt. But other than that small detail, I am satisfied with this product and am looking forward to getting some solid use out of it. In terms of sizing, I am 6’1”, about 170lbs, and have a slim profile. My usual size is medium for hoodies, but I opted in for small based on past experience. Therefore, I would recommend sizing down (despite the size chart), if you want a better fit.

I would definitely recommend this hoodie. I bought three, one for me and two for my boys. We all wear them regularly. These are much warmer than athletic hoodies. Plus, they are just as comfortable. They are supposed to be water resistant but I haven't had to try that out yet.

The rain defender sweatshirts/hoodies are one of my favorite types of carhartt items to buy. The price is a little too high in my personal opinion, but I do believe it is a very good quality material. My husband works outside a lot as a row crop and cattle farmer and he really enjoys them as well.

I bought this hoodie 2 years ago in salt lake city, ut. Now that is starting to fade from numerous washings and starting to get little holes here and there, I've grown to love it so much that I had to get online and buy a new one to hide away for when this one finally gets retired. I wear a medium and I'd have to say that the fit is more like a large. It's a generous cut but not too big, so if that's an issue, you might order a size smaller

Exactly what I was looking for. Large tall. I’m 5’ 10” and the sweatshirt drops down to the crotch. Zip up collar keeps out the cold & wind. Noticed the water beads on the fabric. Loose fit allows for freedom of movement. I recommend it.

As a retired Bricklayer, I was always looking for heavy duty clothing this time of year and I still do now. These Hoodies are GREAT! I love the quarter zipper, the collar inside the hood and the small pocket inside the pouch on the right hand side. Pouch and chest area are triple stitched. Six different colors, I purchased one of each.

I love these heavy sweatshirts. The only issue I had was that the color appears different on the website than what I got. I was thinking based on the picture it would be a darker burnt orange, but when I got it I was surprised that it was lighter. Still like the color, but it wasn't what I was expecting when I opened it.

They are long enough in the sleeves and body. Sleeves are hard to find long enough for me here in Canada. Very comfortable - I will order through you for all my tall clothing needs. Keep up the good work!

Bought a small for my boyfriend who is a little guy (145lbs and 5’7) and it surprisingly fit well. It’s slightly big but perfect for layering in the winter. He has struggled with finding Carhartt/work clothes that fit him since everything seems to be made for huge guys so this was definitely a win. It’s also really heavy which he’s excited about.

I bought two of these two years ago and without a doubt I will purchase these again! They are the best hoodie I ever owned!As soon you put one on you know it's of good heavy weight warm quality! They kept me warm and dry on very cold days, you get your money's worth! After washing mine in cold water for two years they have shrunk a bit and the color has dulled too! Keep this in mind when you order one of these and consider what you will wear under them!

These are the warmest and most durable hoodies we've ever found. We have a landscaping crew in Illinois, and we now provide one for each crew member. They outlast other brands and are warmer in windy conditions than any other sweatshirt. We like the new colors, and would like to see the color "tidal" from 2021 brought back.

This was a lot heavier than I thought it would be. It's very well made but I won't know about the fit until it's given as a Christmas present. It does look a little bit bigger in size so I think it runs a tad bit larger. I'd still order your regular size because it makes for a nice fit.

Great quality, heavy sweatshirt! Size is nice and big! Most of the time, I have to order bigger sweatshirts than what my tshirt size is but with this Carhartt, it is plenty big at my regular shirt size!

Really nice style. It sits at the hip so it seems a little short but actually turns out to look fine when wearing it. Would love to have one if they made them in loose fit. The large works me but If your over 6ft I’d go ahead and get a tall. I’m 6ft 205lbs if that helps any.

My parents started purchasing this sweat shirt for my husband for Christmas probably 15 years back in store. My husband loved the collar inside the hood and they are a little longer to keep the draft off the back. My parents are gone now but my husband and now son too both look forward to receiving a new shirt each year. I love this site because it offers more colors than I find in the stores. The rain defender is a big plus since they both work outside all year long.

I originally bought a black version of this sweatshirt & I loved it so much I went back and bought the light grey and the navy versions too. I love the way it fits, it's heavy enough for me to wear comfortably in a freezing cold warehouse all winter & I like the uniqueness of the quarter zip neck.

This being a Carhartt, I expected more. The heather green I received is 55/45 cotton/polyester. That is a deal breaker right there. The hood drawstring extends only 4 inches from grommet, making them hard to locate and easily drawn completely into the hood. This is just not the quality that Carhartt used to be known for.

Zipper area is so stiff that it pokes me in the throat when unzipped. Quality, fit feel of the shirt are excellent. Would rather just have a hoodie without the zipper.

I purchased one for my son who is a civil engineer who works outside in “the weather”. He liked the light rain protection of this Carhartt model vs a Cotten hoodie. So, I purchased one for “me”. I do not find it quite as warm as a regular heavy weight Carhartt hoodie, but the Rain Defender treatment really works. I am pleased.

I have several of the #100615 Rain Defender hoodie and I like them a lot. I bought this Zip Mock version and it is completely different material from the Rain Defender. This does not repel water at all. It is a standard lightweight sweatshirt material. It pilled up terribly after one wash. My other Rain Defender gear NEVER pilled. It is not branded with Rain Defender anywhere either unlike the good ones. The cuffs flared out and became loose after one wash as well where the #100615 stays tight and true over years of wear. No, I will not call the 800 number again. I just got off the phone with them over this issue and they won't accept a return that has been worn and washed. They also won't exchange. Expensive lesson learned about Bait and Switch.

Are you kidding!! How do I LOVE it? Let me count the ways? It fits perfectly over anything. It feels incredible when it's on me. The detailing is not feminine but also not too masculine that I don't want to wear it. (I am embroidering small white daisies right below the seam that runs across the chest, making it more personal for me. Did a similar pattern of plain stitching to my first Carhartt around the edge of the hood and it gets SO many compliments) The little "pocket in a pocket" just sent me!! Congratulations Carhartt, for a job well done.

I really love this sweatshirt. This is the third I have owned in my life. The two previous rain defenders together lasted me 16 years. Extremely well made and tough fabric. Thought this was going to be the quality of Carhartt that I have come to expect. One day of wearing it for work and washed this hoodie as directed and it showed signs of piles on the pouch area and on the bottom part of the sleeves. Very disappointed. FYI - I followed the instructions to a tie and washed it separately.

On my 2nd one, 1st one lasted 7 years before my dog got ahold of it. Highly recommend this product. Very important to wash garment inside out to keep the DWR intact.

I love this hoodie. It is heavyweight and thick, washes well. The zipper allows you extra head and neck room. I usually only have to replace these hoodies every 4-5 years, they last forever!
