Great feel, heft, stability. Soles as fine as I've seen in the industry, could sense that the insulation would be significant improvement over my non-insulated Filson's. Lace-ups are in order for my profile, however. Thick socks didn't save me.

I bought these in November to help get through a long Wisconsin winter.  My only issue was fit: I usually wear a 10 1/2 wide but the 10 1/2 EE was too long.  I had to exchange for the 10 EE, which fits great with thinner wool socks.  They broke in pretty easily and have become my favorite shoes. These are the sort of boots you thought nobody made any more: solid, simple construction with a very high quality leather upper that is unlined except in the heel and toe. Without a lining they dry out better and don't start to stink. If you are looking for a cushy boot keep looking; if you are looking for something that will last day in and day out Chippewa's classic boots are the best I have found so far. They wear well all day long on all kinds of ground.

I've had these boots for about 6 weeks and after a break-in period I find them very comfortable. Well made with excellent attention to detail. Shepler's customer service couldn't be better. I would say they run a bit small so if you plan to wear heavy socks order a half size larger. I treated mine with Obenauf's HD Leather Protective which makes clean-up easy.

I was a little hesitant to purchase these boots since I could not find any like it at the physical stores to try on, but I am very glad that I went for it anyway. I am an engineering student working construction on the side with a passion for hiking and the outdoors and I was looking for a boot pretty enough to take with me on an interview, tough enough to bear the construction site, and comfortable enough to take on long hikes. This boot has utterly satisfied me in all three realms. Fit great (11D, my normal size). Heaven on the feet .Break in period was not painful at all (they just kept getting more and more comfortable) . No discomfort hiking caprock canyons in the texas summer heat. Prettier (I think) than most of those fancy cowboy boots (which let's face it, are about as practical as high heels unless you're actually riding a horse or dancing the boot scoot n' boogie). Moreover, first snow the other night gave these boots no problem (of course a lug sole might be better for the snow, but I wouldn't want to drag a lug sole with me everywhere. These gave enough traction and kept my feet dry without even adding silicone to the bottom seam).Quality through and through. These boots have left me a chippewa man now and forever.

First put on boot and was comfortable right off the bat. Add says Handcrafted in the USA but boots are actually made in China. Boot laces are 12" too short.
