Receiving Associates

Sheplers is currently seeking receiving associates at our Greenwood Village store. The primary responsibility of the receiving associate would be to assist with timely flow of merchandise from the dock to the sales floor. The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented and works best in a fast paced environment. So if you have prior receiving experience and are looking for a new challenge, we want to hear from you.

Job Duties

  • Receive freight by unloading trucks, opening boxes and removing merchandise.
  • Handles all receiving related paperwork processing procedures.
  • Process merchandise by cerifying quality and quantity.
  • Report all shortages, overages or other discrepancies to the Store Manager
  • Assist with the maintaining of receiving files for orders, merchandise received, manufacturer returns, etc. on a frequent and routine basis so all files are kept current and accurate.
  • Assist with the processing of all damaged claims and carriers.
  • Process charge backs, Out-of-Stock items, customer mail-outs, returns and transfers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 1 to 3 prior apparel or footwear retail experience is required.
  • Prior receiving experience is required.
  • Must be ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
  • Must have strong customer service skills.
  • Must be able to type at least 40 wpm.
  • Basic retail math skills are required.

Store Manager in Training

GENERAL SUMMARY: The retail Store Manager-In-Training (SMIT) has responsibility for learning, planning, sales promotions, advertising, special events, organizing, and controlling of all operational, merchandising, and personnel functions for the store. The SMIT will work directly with the Store Manager and Market Manager in learning their new function. The SMIT will serve in the SMIT role for a minimum of six (6) months before promotion to Store Manager and with their own assigned store. Candidates MUST be willing to relocate to other stores/states.

Essential Functions

  • The SMIT will help to supervise by assigning, guiding and verifying work, and assumes responsibility for productivity of entire store staff.
  • Trains and reviews subordinate management under the direction of the Store Manager.
  • Assists the Store Manager in overseeing merchandising activities for the store.
  • Assists the Store Manager in planning, preparing and adhering to budgets for all controllable accounts.
  • Communicates with Store Manager and Merchandising and works with buying staff to ensure proper, planned inventories of merchandise for the store.
  • With the assistance and guidance of the Store Manager, forecasts and controls expenditures of funds, and analyze expense accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Monitors all personnel related activities for compliance with company and governmental policies and regulations.

  • Under the direction of the store manager, develops and recommends business strategies that may enhance sales and/or profit.
  • Working knowledge of all areas of the store so as to complete tasks in the event of a personnel gap or on behalf of the Store Manager in his/her absence.

  • 4-year degree in Business or related field or equivalent years of experience in a retail environment.
