I am a Texas Paramedic and wear it every day on and off duty. I got this hat because I spend a lot of time outside in killer heat and sun. Although it is wool it is ok in the heat. Sturdy and very crushable. Great for travel. I have sat and laid on it several times for extended periods and it always pops back into shape. Holds up good in the rain. Water didn't soak through working in the rain. Only time it ever got really wet was when I cut my yard in it. It was 100 degrees and I soaked the inside band and pocket with sweat. The inside got some soak spots but it didn't soak through to the outside. It took a while to dry out but it looks okay now. Slight sweat staining on the inside I haven't tried to clean it but you can hardly tell unless you look real close. I bet it will clean up perfect if I have it cleaned professionally.

Felt Hats - Keep your hats dust free. We recommend a soft bristle brush for cleaning felt hats. Always brush with the nap in a counter clockwise motion. Ordinary dust marks and smudges may be removed with a hat cleaning sponge. To store your hat, we recommend keeping it in a hat box. Always place the hat upside down on its crown to avoid affecting the shape of the brim. Felt hats were not intended to be worn in the rain. However, if a hat does get wet, flip the sweatband outward and set the hat upside down on its crown to allow it to dry naturally.
