For years I've settled for cheaper hats while searching for my "signature hat". The search is over. I'm used to leather hats, so having a hat that can take some weathering is a priority to me, but I've always liked the classic western look that felt hats have. Also, the Gus style crown is very unique, and hard to come by short of the 300 dollar level. I have to say that for felt, this hat's durability has impressed me. Snow and light rain just beads and runs right off it. In wool felt hats, I've seen rain drops leave bumps on the brim after drying, but this fur felt has kept smooth. I haven't worn it out in heavy rain (yet), but the gus style design makes this a hat that will age well with use. If your looking for a dress hat to baby to death then your probably looking for something more conformist (black or white with a 3 inch brim) anyway. This hat is begging for rain to give it some rugged character. I have full confidence that this hat will hold up to some rain, (after all, Its already seen several months of snow and sleet and looks practically like it did fresh out of the box!). Basically, it does what its supposed to do. It's functional, its American, and I'll be wearing it with pride to my next bluegrass festival, and for many years to come.The only con is that the inside of the crease in the crown sometimes creates an uncomfortable pressure point on the top of my head, but this is a slight annoyance that will dissappear as the point flattens out with use. Also, the color is slightly lighter than pictured at sheplers but I think it looks better lighter anyhow. It's gotten a lot of approval from my friends, and a lot of compliments from strangers, and I highly reccommend it.

This is my first buffalo fur hat & I really like it. Seems very durable and is a great looking hat. Sizing is just slightly small but I have ordered a hat stretcher, though I probably don't need it. I'd like to see Stetson and the other hat makers offer more sloped front fur and straw hats.

I have a very small head (20") and it is very difficult for me to find a hat let alone one that looks good on me. This one is perfect ! ! The Gus shaping is the one for me. I ordered the mink and plan on getting the tan when available.

Arrived on time. Color and shape looked just like the picture. Nice band. Keeps shape well. Looks good and looks good on me. Got a few unexpected complements.
