I never know what size belt to order. All I know is that the belt I own that fits me the best measures 40" (just the leather strap, from end to end, minus the buckle). So what would be the best size for me in this belt?

Your belt size will be a size 40. When determining your belt size a great tip is to add 2" to your jean or slack size.
