Not sure if it runs big or she just doesn't like the loose fit. I would suggest getting an accurate measurement from a hat store before purchasing as shipping to exchange or return is on you... The only surprise was that it has a string (for lack of a better word) that comes around under the chin, so the hat can be secured. This is not mentioned or shown. For my purpose, would prefer it not have it. For others, I'm sure this would be a plus. Very nice hat. It is a nice pink, not a salmon pink, which we so often find. December 20, 2011
