Rated 3 out of 5 by Tight, but comfortable - issues taking them off The Mad Dog is a nice looking boot and a little snug putting them on. Once on, they're a very comfortable boot. I'd give it a 5 star for that. But, taking them off is another issue. The design of the boot leaves a large flap inside the boot where the shaft connects to the upper part of the boot. So, when you go to take them off, it seems like the bend in the boot is fighting you when you try to take your boot off. It is not the bend, it is the oversized leather piece inside the boot that is folding back on your sock or foot making it very difficult to remove the boot. The solution is going inside the boot to remove the extra leather that is not sewed down. It is right in the middle of the shaft at the bottom. I first cut it down the middle of the excess leather flap, then used my Swiss Army blade saw to cut off the excess leather. I don't know how this is going to affect the boot in the long run, but I can now take them off like a regular boot without fighting it for ten minutes trying to get it off. For that, I give the boot a 3. I shouldn't have to modify a Lucchese Handcrafted boot for it to go on and take off without a fight. June 14, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Tried two different sizes I ordered the boots based upon the Nocona's that I've owned for years. I was barely able to get my foot past the upper leathers. Once I had them on, they were snug but not overtight. Since it took about 20 minutes to get the boots back off, the returned to boots for another full size. Got them yesterday, and was unhappy to find the same issue with the leather uppers. Again, once the boots were on, I was good. But another 15 minutes to get my feet back out> Sending them back again for credit. March 14, 2012
Rated 2 out of 5 by Made with a shank effecting arch of foot. The boots are fine with the exception of the effect the shank in the foot bed has on being uncomfortable in feel at the arch of the foot. The "handcrafted" construction may have something to do with this as the right boot feels good, but the left boot has the pronounced shank hitting the foot arch and feels uncomfortable - quality control issue. I have not experienced this before. I have kept the boots in hope that the boot breaks in and becomes more acceptable. December 22, 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ouch, Tight Fit. I purchased these boots based on the size of my Lucchese Ropers, 10.5 D. When I took them out of the box and slipped them on all I could say was "ouch". I wore them on the carpet for a while and they seemed to loosen up a bit. I decided to keep them because I didn't want a wider, sloppy fitting boot. I have been wearing them every day at work. They are still a bit too tight in the mornings, but loosen comfortably with in an hour or so. I know the leather is alot stiffer than my Ropers, and hope over time it will soften a bit. Over all Im satisfied, and I just ordered a pair for my Wife. Im still giving them 5 stars despite the snug fit. September 6, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fabulous looking and feeling boot. I have a narrow foot and this boot works well for me. It is firmer than the dress boots and seems to hold it's shape well. Very comfortable and casual looking. July 6, 2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Doesn´t fit Inside the shoe makes the sole a big hump. After 1 minute going there are pain in the feet. Not possible to walk with. June 25, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fine dressboot, great fit and excellent quality. Lucchese boots fitt great. Ordered EE size because of my high instep and wide foot. Ordering boots, just follow the instructions on the internetsite of Sheplers for a good buy. Dont need the boots to break in, slide in and start walking. October 20, 2010
