Ok, so I own several pair of boots. I am no authority but after a lifetime of buying , I can make some good observations.
First, I was torn between these boots and the next step up to the $650.00 Lucchese boots. Problem with the more expensive boots was the heel cap was covered with a different skin...elephant hide...instead of Hornback Caiman. I thought that odd and detracting from the look of the boot. So, I went with the less expensive boots.
Looking them over, I was disappointed with the edge treatment. You know, where the skin is seamed and stitched. The edge was left unfinished and it detracts from the overall look of the boot.
But, how many people really examine them in use anyway?
The boots face arch thru toe area is beautiful and the overall quality is good to very good. It is just that seam finishing which , compared to other boots ...really detracts. The fit is good and is consistent.
Overall a hard to beat value if you can overlook the minor flaws.
Also, I am becoming less and less a fan of the full leather sole and enjoying the new composite soles of competing boot makers. The traditional leather soles are slippery to very slippery when new. So, I hope someday to see Lucchese offer this style of sole on their boots.
I know, many will disagree. But, try one I think you will be sold. I was.
