Rated 1 out of 5 by not leather I had these boots for a while before realizing that there is little to no genuine leather to be found. They are hard to break in and poorly constructed- the material on the inside of the heel started to peel back and made it near impossible to slip onto my feet. My sister had a pair of these she found in a thrift shop that were amazing and broken in (and most likely real leather). I was hoping these Justins would become the same- but I was disappointed. The only upside is that they are fairly comfortable and weather resistant. March 1, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Well made but Narrow in calf I tried these boots as Aritat has stopped shipping to Australia. Great looking boot but made for people with skinny calfs. Fortunatly I was able to pass my purchase on to a friend. August 7, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by just alittle more than ok. Says leather upper not really sure about that. If it is it's the strangest leather I've ever felt. Feels like "pleather" color is nice. Lining is stiff and scratches your leg. can see it cracking over time...i guess for the money they are ok but next time i'll spend alittle more for better quality or maybe change brand....just not the same as justins I wore growing up... Rated 4 out of 5 by This product is prices well. I like that it has a rubber sole and a narrow throat so my feet don't slide in and out. July 27, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by nice boot but is made for wide feet and skinny legs. May 12, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by sizing wrong When I ordered these boots it suggested to order a half size smaller, wrong, would not fit at all. I have a pair of boots now that I can't wear. May 8, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Basic boot, probably best for fashion. I read other reviews about the sizing and ordered a 1/2 size down. This fit well. I liked the distressed brown color. However, the leather was thin on the upper. I was looking for something more sturdier. If I wanted these for a fashion boot, they'd probably work out fine. But I returned these as I need something to hold up around stables and hooved animals. May 8, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product has great wear to it. You'll love the way this boot starts to break-in in just a couple days. I myself LOVE this boot compared to other boots I have bought in the years past. Why? One is for sure, it doesn't have a really big heal and its so tall. April 29, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great fit and comfort As suggested, I ordered 1/2 size smaller than I normally wear, and this is the best fitting boot ever. I have a narrow foot, and this boot is a lttile narrower through the arch area, making it a perfect fit, and it's extrememly comfortable. March 21, 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by These boots look and feel awesome! I highly recommend them. I wear an 8 and purchased an 8. They fit really good and they're really comfortable! March 21, 2011

    Answer:
    Hello,

I believe the Justin Basic Roper is distressed leather. You would apply Distressed Leather Conditioner, which you can buy right here on the website. You may also use Bick 4 which would also be fine and keep your boots looking nice as well as protecting them.
