    Rated 4 out of 5 by Inexpensive, easy to install, and it works I got this horsehair stampede string because I'm starting mounted action shooting, and I don't want my hat to come off at a fast lope. The cotter pins are pretty easy to put it and take out, so I can easily move this gadget from my felt in the winter to straw in the summer. The slide stays in place, so your hat can't come off, even if the ride gets a little too ro-de-o. The horsehair is a little stiff and scratchy, but it's inexpensive compared to braided leather and it works just fine. Folks who are buying this as a fashion accessory may like it even better -- it looks good. But I bought it purely for functional reasons. December 14, 2012
