As mentioned in other reviews, the leather is very soft and there is no break in period required. I bought a black pair and a brown pair. Unfortunately the sole came off one of the black boots the other boot is fine and this was after only 5 months. On the brown pair one heel has worn down at least half way so I can barely walk in them (6 months). I have worn cowboy boots for 40 years and tried most of the top brands. These are by far the poorest quality boots I have ever owned and this is so unfortunate because they are also one of the most comfortable (while they lasted).

Great boot!! The quality I have come to expect from Dan Post and the pricing and delivery from Sheplers topped it off. These boots are extremely soft and comfortable right out of the box. NO BREAK IN PERIOD!!

A very soft leather boot, if softness is what you want. As always, a great fit and comfortable as all Dan Post boots are. Only boot I would ever wear.

I returned these due to the leather on the vamp being thin as paper. One good scuff I think would split them open like an apple peel. I didn't buy them for hard use or riding ( a spur would ruin them in an hour) but even for dress wear I just don't think they'd hold up. Too bad because I have other Dan Post boots that are really well made.

The material IS NOT low quality. The leather -- and it is leather -- is relatively thin and lightweight, and soft. If you want a heavy boot this one is not what you want. But materials and workmanship are first rate, and this is a beautiful, high quality boot that is comfortable and fits your foot perectly.

I recently bought this pair of boots. It was a bit disapointing when I opened the box: these boots are very poor made and the material (I assume it IS leather) is very thin. Because I live in The Netherlands, it is a bit of a hassle to return them, but otherwise I would have and returned them for a a pair with decent quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stovy I find women's cowboy boots too snug across the instep in my size; so, I buy men's boots. The Dan Posts were a perfect fit. I love the super pointed toe and intend to purchase the brown boots too.
