Rated 3 out of 5 by Too Wide I read the reviews before ordering and ordered a 1/2 size smaller...still too wide so I exchanged them for a full size larger...still too wide. I have an average size foot....not overly narrow by any means and have never had a problem getting boots to fit right. they need to offer these boots in narrower widths and size them correctly. They appear to be a very well made boot, but if they don't fit correctly it really doesn't matter how well they are made. June 17, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Order a whole size smaller... I bought these boots for my boyfriend over the internet because they didn't seem to have them in stock at any store locations. We knew they ran big from reading other reviews so we ordered a 9 (he usually wears a 9 1/2). We still had to mail them back and ended up with a 8 1/2. They fit now and he says they feel great! Rated 4 out of 5 by Chippewa pitstop western work boots IN ONE WORD THE ITEM IS PERFECT. TOO MUCH DIFFERENT THE SIZE FROM 13D (TOO LARGE AND WIDE) AND 12D (LIGHTLY THIN). Please, for your next promotions with free shipping, think something for not domestic customers. November 28, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by great pair of boots First pair of chippewa boots that I have not had to return. Perfect fit for someone with a high instep. Will be easy to break in. Very comfortable. November 27, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Working boots This is my third pair of these boots. I have been wearing these for about 10 years and still love them. I wear these everyday at work so they have to be comfortable and durable. April 17, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5 by well built Whilst these boots are only brand new, they have the look and feel of quality, so I expect them to last. A well made good looking pair of boots September 26, 2011

Rated 5 out of 5 by The real thing ! Great quality and superb material, and on top of all the Vibram sole. A great working boot that can handle just about any environment. I haven't tried them in winter conditions yet but since they are quite a bit wider then expected there's plenty of room for an extra pair of socks so they'll probably work fine in the cold as well ! If you're only going to use them in warm climate consider a more narrow size then you usually wear, that's my advise. September 17, 2010

The description does not state either. If it has a hard toe, check with the operator before ordering.

    Answer:
    lynindasun,

It is not a steel toe boot, but it is made very durable. The pitstop leather is made to resist acid, water, and salt stains.
