For a little girl, the flexibility equals stability as well as comfort, and the soles have enough give for easy walking/running/everything a five-year-old will dish out. These are a Christmas gift, so my granddaughter hasn't tried them on yet, but I know she'll love them. The color's not too "bubble gum," the stitching looks "fancy," and the quality is obvious.
