Levi Strauss - Company History, The Making of the Levis ® Jean Legend
Levi Jeans have forever been an essential wardrobe piece - from miners, cowboys, movie stars, and musicians, to our casual Fridays and date night jean ensembles. Levis ® empowers you to wear your Levi Jeans your way.
Levis ® started from humble beginnings. In 1853, nearing the end of the California Gold Rush, German immigrant Levi Strauss moved to San Francisco. There, Strauss helped his sister & her husband, Fanny & David Stern, with their dry goods business. Eventually, Levi Strauss tried his hand at his own wholesale company, which he named Levi Strauss. Ultimately, David Stern joined Strauss' wholesale business. The Levi Strauss Company sold many dry goods, but invested heavily in production of the denim work pant. The wholesale business focused on the needs of miners, other merchants, and peddlers.
By 1866, the Levi Strauss & Co. ® dry goods business was booming. Levis ® was synonymous with "quality goods". The hard-working lifestyles of the ever-growing community made Levi's business the go-to place for durable "waist overalls" (or "jeans", a term not coined until the late 1950's). In 1873, to make Levis Jeans longer lasting, Levi & Jacob Davis, a Reno, Nevada tailor & Levi Strauss & Co. ® customer, patented the Levis ® riveted jeans pocket.
Even through the popularity of Levis Leans, Levi Strauss continued with his wholesale dry goods business. After Levi Strauss' death in 1902, sons of David & Fanny Stern took over the Levi Strauss & Co. ® business.
Throughout the 1900's & 2000's, though Levis ® endured tough times - the 1906 earthquake & fire, World War II, and economic down-turns - the Levi ® jeans company has continued to produce quality products and create great ideas, such as Levi Denim jean jackets; Red Tab Levis Jeans & clothing; men's, women's, & kids' Levis ® clothing; and the development of the assigned Levi ® jean numbers, which we all associate with our favorite Levi Jeans - such as Levis ® 501 jeans, Levis ® 517 jeans, & Levis ® 527 jeans.

But What is. Just right the check, Sheplers prices are right in there, you gotta buy them from somewhere and I love listening to "Old Shep" on hold much more than elevator music! Sheplers is a class act, even though Levi's can't hold a candle to what they once were... Sheplers is a pleasure to do business with! I will buy from them again, without a doubt!

When I saw that Sheplers had the 501's 5 buttonI thought , what the heck. I had not worn a pair of Levis, in particular, the 5 button front in 50-55 years. I wore them when I was ranching in Arizona, but not the 501's or any Levis for that matter. The problem was sizing. When I looked through the list of sizes that Sheplers had I decided to order several pair. The size is 36 x 36. I have both pre washed and stone washed, for a total of three pair. The metal buttons that gave me a difficult time as a kid, are still driving me a little nuts. The fit after one washing and no hot dryer, just air then inside is great. The Levis quality is still with us. Nice to wear after all these years.

These are slim fit, but if you're big (NOT FAT), don't have a big butt or Beer gut, you will look great in these dress Jeans. They look sharp and hold a crease after washing and drying without a need to iron them. Definitely worth the money. I always get compliments when wearing them.

These are the best Jeans I ever owned and I have owned a lot. The fit is so comfortable and they hold thier shape all day. Wash and dry and they are like a new pair of Jeans. Too bad I couldn't have gotten them in black.

I bought these Levi's for my 75 year old dad, they arrived a day earlier to his remote retirement home in NorCal, ( Im in SLC, Ut) the website is easy to navigate and I will purchase again -soon as he needs more. He loves them says they are just like what he wore in the 50's ( only he was a 30 waist back then , now he's a 35 LOL! ) And i had forgot to add they were a gift , to not have the receipt inside the box-and they arrived without one! Score!
